The 2005 film Another Brick in the Wall was made, as part of the campaign to try and prevent Newland Avenue Primary School from being closed, by Anna Bean, Bluebeany and is a wonderful tribute to the teachers, parents, children and the local community who tried so hard to save the school from closing but in the end were unsuccessful. Hardly 10 years later local primary schools are bulging at the seams and with hindsight the decision appears even more ludicrous than it was at the time. Please join the Newland Avenue Community Action Group to become involved in trying to save the school, an obvious and much loved asset of community value, from being sold for private commercial and residential development.
